Dr Iffat Maqbool has been teaching in the postgraduate department of English as permanent faculty since 2005. She is a NET/ JRF holder as well as a gold medalist (1997) for outstanding merit at the MA level. Earlier she taught at Govt College for Women, M A Road, Srinagar from 1997-2001.Called on deputation to the Dept of English in 2001, she has since then continued to teach at the department. Dr Iffat has worked on the Irish poet Seamus Heaney for her Ph D. Since 2003, she has been successfully teaching Indian Writing in English and Modern English Poetry to students. Her other interests include Postcolonial studies, Feminist studies as well as contemporary literature. Her research articles have appeared in various journals and she has participated in a number of national as well as International seminars. Seven M Phil scholars have worked under her supervision who have already been awarded their degrees. Currently, she is supervising four Ph D scholars. She has successfully supervised research work on Indian fiction, Drama and poetry, Australian poetry, Canadian literature, Feminist studies and modern American poetry. A compilation of her essays on Indian Writing in English is to be published in 2018.
